This summer, my research team and I took on an exciting challenge—collecting data at one of the most famous music festivals in the Netherlands: Lowlands. Over the course of three intense days under the August sun and next to the festival’s booming main stage, we experienced an overwhelming amount of interest in our study on gender stereotypes in pornography. In the PORN-TYPES project, we examine deeply ingrained stereotypes in online pornography, from the ‘MILF’ to the ‘BBC’. But why does this matter?
